Hello, welcome to my blog. My name is Amanda and I’m the photographer/owner of Paint The Stars Photography.

I specialize in fine art maternity and family photography in Annapolis, MD, Baltimore, MD and D.C. areas. My passion is creating tangible art for the homes of my clients. I don’t consider my job complete until my clients have stunning albums featuring all of the portraits from their session or breathtaking wall décor showcasing their loved ones in their home.

With my blog I plan to showcase phenomenal sessions I’ve captured, share a lot of beginner photography tips, information for new moms, and post tips and tricks for people to use to prepare for their own family photography sessions. My dream is for this blog to be filled with useful content that new photographers and new moms can use to make their lives easier.

Now, a little back-story about me, I like to say I’ve been a photographer since I was 13. That was my age when my older sister confided in me that she regretted not photographing her life more. She felt as though she missed many opportunities to hold onto memories that now would be lost.

For some reason that stuck with me. Ever since then I have photographed and documented my life. I have photo albums dating all the way back to middle school! Nowadays you can find me photographing my kids and my doggy and creating yearly albums for my family to enjoy.

I find inspiration in nature. In my photography you’ll see a lot of foliage, overlooks, rivers, and beaches. Nature fills me with so much wonder. I am constantly awed by a beautiful sunset or the way the sun shines through the trees during golden hour. I talk about it so much that my kids have even started to notice. They’ll say: “Momma, look over there at the beautiful sunset! Isn’t it wonderful?” I love how they are learning to take in nature the way I do.

Within my decade of photography experience I have learned so much. I’ve worked with hundreds of families so I excel in any situation. I take my love of photography and pair it with my regard of the family unit then I add my obsession with nature to create exquisite portraits my clients will treasure.

To create these timeless pieces of artwork I use industry-leading gear. I’ve spent hundreds of hours in workshops and online classes to learn the proper equipment to achieve my style of photography.

During my sessions you will most likely see me using off-camera flash with a large soft box. This gives my portraits a unique, beautiful, and professional look. You’ll also find me with a Sigma art lens. The bokeh that my Sigma Art 135mm lens helps me achieve is so dreamy. You also can’t forget my trusty 25-70mm lens. I use this lens for a wide angle when I’m in a tight space.
